Matching Sets for Pets and Their People: A Gift Guide
A matching set is two pieces cut from one print: a bandana for a dog or cat, and a scrunchie for the person who walks them. This guide covers the set and its prints, how to choose a size for someone else’s pet, who it suits, and how ordering a gift works.
The Matching Set and its prints
The bandana is cut as a triangle and closes with two snaps instead of a knot. The snaps close at two settings, so it adjusts within its size. The scrunchie is one size, cut wide from the same length of fabric and gathered full, so it always matches the bandana.
Both pieces are printed polyester twill. Machine wash cold, hang dry. A set is $34, and every print comes in every size.
Choosing a size for someone else’s pet
The size comes from one measurement, around the neck where a collar sits. If you cannot measure the pet without giving the gift away, measure a collar it already wears: fasten it, lay it flat, and measure around the loop.
- Size S fits a neck of 9.5–12 in (24–30 cm), typically toy breeds, under 10 lb.
- Size M fits a neck of 13.5–15.5 in (35–40 cm), typically under 27 lb, such as Frenchies, Poodles.
- Size L fits a neck of 19.5–21.5 in (50–55 cm), typically under 44 lb, such as Corgis, Border Collies.
- Size XL fits a neck of 23.5–26.5 in (60–68 cm), typically 44 lb and up, such as Goldens, Huskies.
Between two sizes, take the larger: the snaps can take a bandana in, but cannot let one out. If the size is still wrong, it can be exchanged.
Who a matching set suits
- Someone bringing home a new dog or cat, as a first thing for the two of them.
- A friend who walks their dog every day: the bandana for the dog, the scrunchie for the walk.
- Two households at once. Two sets are $58 with $10 off the second, so one can be kept and one given, in different prints and sizes.
